Location and Accessibility

Situated near Chapais in the Jamésie region, the Chapiteau Promise project benefits from excellent access via Highway 113, linking Val-d’Or and Chibougamau. This strategic position, 500 km north of Montreal, supports efficient exploration in a region with a strong mining heritage and robust infrastructure.

Geological Highlights

The project is hosted in syenite pegmatite rocks within the Grenville Province, a globally recognized REE hotspot. These rocks hold a treasure trove of light and heavy rare earth elements (LREEs and HREEs), alongside critical minerals like niobium and tantalum. This geological promise positions Chapiteau as a multi-element opportunity in a proven mineral belt.

Exploration Milestones

In 2010, Quest Rare Minerals conducted a pivotal mapping and sampling program, collecting 12 rock outcrop samples. These revealed anomalous levels of barium, beryllium, fluorine, gallium, niobium, lead, rubidium, tantalum, thorium, uranium, zinc, and zirconium, plus notable REEs. This early work sets the stage for modern exploration to unlock the project’s full potential.

Recent Developments

Durango Resources Inc. secured a 100% interest in January 2025, marking a new era for the Chapiteau Promise project. Previously held by Quest Rare Minerals, this acquisition reflects growing interest in Quebec’s critical minerals, with Durango poised to advance this early-stage asset into a key REE contender.

  • Diverse Mineralization:

LREEs, HREEs, and critical elements like niobium offer multi-market potential.

  • Untapped Promise:

Early-stage status invites significant discovery with modern exploration techniques.

  • Green Tech Impact:

REEs are vital for renewable energy, aligning with global sustainability goals.
